Urban Walk 2: Waldo to the River - April 8, 2006
Part 2: UMKC to Stowers Institute
UMKC...
53rd & Charlotte (not exactly a main entrance to UMKC).
On the left is Grant Hall, the conservatory school.
When I started at UMKC this was Nelson Elementary and Grant Hall was
a house on Warwick that was later demolished to make way for the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.
On the right is the new parking garage, formerly a surface lot and before that a block of homes.

Linda Hall Library of Science and Technology (not affiliated with UMKC)...

Far left: Royall Hall, Center: Haag Hall, Far right: parking garage...

I'm not sure what the name of this building is, it didn't exist when I was a student.
I believe it houses general science and technology departments...

Left: that new building, Right: Haag Hall...

At this point I killed my first set of camera batteries, fortunately I had a backup set in my pocket.
Scofield Hall, formerly a private home. I once pried open a panel in the floor of a basement office and found an old swimming pool under it.

Haag Hall...

This was the Geophysics Building when I was a student, I don't know if it still is...

Swinney Rec Center. This was under construction when I started school here...

I stopped by thee campus bookstore at this point and bought more batteries, just in case.
Stowers Institute from a distance...

SASS Barracks, left over from a WW2 military post...

In the distance, the Life Sciences and Chemistry complex. To the right, Miller Nichols Library.
This was a 2-story building named "General Library" when I started, Miller Nichols donated the money
to add three more floors.
