Long-time best friends Ken M. Wilson and Scott "Scooter J." Murdock have formed Syphon Interactive, L.L.C., an Internet-based firm specializing in the interactive and highly-addictive sites they've been developing for years. The company was formed in August, 1999 and is based in Olathe, Kansas.

Wilson, 28, and Murdock, 29, first met in 1989 on the campus of the University of Missouri-Kansas City where they both attended classes and worked in the Computing Services Department. Concepting, creating, and maintaining several games and applications on the University's mainframe, the two quickly realized how easily their ideas were able to elicit enthusiastic demands for more from their players. With the discovery of the Mosaic web browser and HTML, the two had found their canvas upon which to create games and applications that could appeal to a much larger audience.

In 1995, Wilson concepted and began work on a Web site called The 80s Server, a retrospective of the pop-culture throughout the 1980s, while still at UMKC Computing Services. Realizing he had bitten off more than he could chew with his enormous project, he enlisted the help of Murdock to "breathe life in it." This proved to be the beginning of their professional relationship.

Later that year, Wilson accepted a position in a start-up Internet company in Lenexa, Kansas. He begged Murdock to follow him, which Scott did shortly thereafter. The positions allowed them both to utilize the skills they had acquired in their spare-time at UMKC. While they built client sites during the work day, they'd spend their evenings concepting and building their own original and small entertainment sites as well as continuing work on The 80s Server, which they sold in 1996 at the height of its popularity.

Throughout most of the 1990s, Ken and Scott worked for several other companies while continuing to build their own award-winnings creations. At the behest of numerous friends and fellow co-workers of all ranks, the two formed their own company in 1999 in order to offer their unique development style and abilities to the world at large.

Wilson and Murdock chose the name "Syphon Interactive" due to their uncanny ability to siphon Internet users from all over the world to their personal creations on the Web in a very short period of time.
