Syphon Interactive has recently completed work on the web site of Kustom Signals, a worldwide
provider of vehicle speed monitoring devices for use by police departments and other areas of
public safety.
Syphon was subcontracted by Astrachan Communications to
develop a number of dynamic features for the new web site. These include a product catalog,
a sales contact locator, and tools to allow Kustom Signals to create preferred customer accounts
and keep in contact with these customers.
Perhaps the most important feature of the new Kustom Signals web site is the suite of back-end
administrative utilities designed and developed by Syphon Interactive. These tools allow
Kustom Signals to respond to customer inquiries, create preferred customer accounts, generate
opt-in mailing lists of customers, issue press releases, announce trade shows, update the product
catalog, and more.
"I would conservatively estimate that at least 80% of the content on this web site can be directly
updated by the client through these utilities," said Scott Murdock, Syphon's CTO and the lead programmer
on this project. "That content includes not only copy, but photographs and catalog hierarchy as well."
Completion of this project has additional meaning for the Syphon team, as this was the first project
the young company acquired after its incorporation in 1999.
"We're somebody now," joked Syphon Interactive's CEO Ken M. Wilson, paraphrasing comedian Steve Martin's
"Navin R. Johnson" character.
