Project:
Challenger Sports extranet

Project Description:
Challenger Sports had a problem. This UK-based organization had several regional
offices throughout the United States overseeing thousands of local youth soccer groups -- with no simple, centralized means of coordinating
schedules and resources for all of the thousands of training camps.
Syphon was selected by VML to work directly with Challenger Sports in developing an extranet
that would solve this problem. The extranet we created allows all of the regional offices to input contact lists and camp schedules into a centralized database.
The system has various levels of security -- the regional offices each have read access to all of the data and full read/write access to their own data,
and the central headquarters can access the entire database in either read-only mode or full read-write mode.
In addition to the main features of scheduling camps and allocating resources, the extranet offers several other powerful features. These include:
- Can add/modify/remove regional directors and transfer local soccer groups individually or en masse from one director to another
- A search utility that can return camp records matching almost any conceivable set of criteria
- A reporting tool that allows the user to build (and save for future use) complex search queries and select any combination of specific fields to return, with the option to either view the results online or download them as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
- A label maker that prints mailing labels for all of the contacts that meet a specific set of criteria
- Dynamically-generated Microsoft Word documents containing details about individual soccer camps that can be downloaded and edited or printed to use as offline registration forms.
The project was brought to Syphon under a very tight schedule, but we pulled through and delivered a product that exceeded all expectations.
